Military Families & Veterans

Welcome to Black Hills Church of Christ in Rapid City, South Dakota. We are honored to serve our military, their spouses and families, veterans, and retirees from Ellsworth Air Force Base and the surrounding area. Our congregation includes several military veterans and retirees who understand the unique challenges and blessings of military life—frequent moves, deployments, long hours, and building community in a new place.


We believe church should feel like family: a place of genuine support, Bible-centered teaching, and warm fellowship. Whether you're active duty with Ellsworth AFB, serving with the Army National Guard here in Rapid City, a veteran, a retiree, or part of a military family adjusting to life in the Black Hills, you're invited to join us.


Our Commitment to the Military Community

  • Veterans & Retirees Among Us — Several in our congregation have served in the Air Force, Army, and other branches. They bring shared experience, wisdom, and a deep appreciation for the sacrifices military families make every day.
  • Transportation Support — We have members with access to Ellsworth AFB and are happy to provide rides for Airmen, Guard members, or families who need transportation to services, Bible studies, or events. Just reach out—we're here to help, we've been there.
  • Monthly Potlucks — Come join us on the first Sunday of each month after morning worship for a homecooked potluck meal. It's a relaxed time to enjoy good food, share stories, and connect—especially welcome if you're missing a home-cooked meal or looking to build friendships in a new place.

What to Expect at Our Services

  • Sundays: Fellowship at 9:30 AM, Bible Class 9:45–10:15 AM, Worship 10:30–11:30 AM
  • Wednesday Night Bible Study: 6:00–7:00 PM
  • Casual, welcoming atmosphere — no dress code, family-friendly, focused on Scripture and simple New Testament worship.
